Today's junior high school students are faced with a constant barrage of media, negative models of behavior by pro athletes, and a culture that advocates a "win at all costs" mentality.
These influences are impacting the attitudes and behaviors student-athletes are bringing to the field, the court and the classroom. |

In STAR Junior High (The Secret of Baldwin High), students
role-play as a new student who turns the school's failing
basketball team into winners by choosing to follow the
principles of good sportsmanship. STAR Junior High teaches:
• Critical thinking skills that form the basis for
improvement in attitudes and behaviors of student-athletes
• The warning signs of steroid and other illicit drug use
• How to deal with difficult situations
• How our actions affect others
• How to deal with bullying issues
